Collections Management

Cataloguing

Whether it’s accounting for a few thousand excavated artifacts or cataloguing a museum collection as a Young Canada Works intern, I’ve had a lot of opportunity to be detail-oriented and thorough.

Re-Housing

These custom-cut coroplast containers are a stable, acid-free storage solution for these marionettes. Careful measuring means a sturdy box that can be stacked safely.

Enclosures

Enclosing artifacts in acid-free, conservation grade materials is the best way to ensure safe handling and storage. Most enclosures, like this self-closing wrapper, are made custom for the often irregularly-sized artifacts.

Collections Care

Not all archival material will survive long-term. These envelopes contain silver gelatin glass negative plates and will be transcribed before being discarded. The glass plate negatives are carefully cleaned and re-housed in acid-free envelopes.

Instrument Maintenance

If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it! If it is broken, though, having a good relationship with its manufacturer will help you restore even a 30-year-old machine to full strength.
